OK, I'm back through my rotation completely again, and have started several new books. Here's where things stand currently:
- Fantasy: The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Schwab (41%)
- Sci-Fi: Legend by Marie Lu (7%)
- Realistic Fiction: Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz (1%)
- Young Readers: The Fledgling by Jane Langton (19%)
- Brandon Sanderson: The Frugal Wizard's Handbook for Surviving Medieval England (100%)
- Nonfiction: The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt (67%)
- Classic: Les Misérables by Victor Hugo (6%)
- Mystery/Thriller: The Brothers Hawthorne by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (50%)
- Historical Fiction: Apeirogon by Colum McCann (4%)
- Audio: The Women by Kristin Hanna (3%)
- English Department Book Club: Death of the Author by Nnedi Okorafor (51%)
- Neighborhood Book Club: The Names by Florence Knapp (5%)
This list feels massive, and it's starting to get out of hand. I'm going to need to focus read The Names so I can finish it before book club. I'm getting late start, and that's not encouraging. Then I'm going to probably push through and finish Death of the Author because I'm sure we're going to talk about that one soon.
One major change coming to my rolling system - I did away with my young readers list. I took all of those books and split them into their respective genres (fantasy, sci-fi, realistic fiction, etc.). I realized as I was looking through that their placement on that list was a little arbitrary - there were others that belonged there that weren't, and some of the books on that list are considered YA, not the upper elementary range that I had designed the list for. So I pulled that arbitrary aspect from the rolling and now have a much more comprehensive list. I also added all of the books that live in my school lending library (not my textbook library - ew), and so rolling those will just be part of the experience.
I need to roll for a new Sanderson to start during this rotation. I finished Frugal Wizard so I'm ready to pick up another of his novels. I rolled a d12.
4! On my list, this is Isles of the Emberdark which is one of the newest books. I'm super excited to get to read this one already!
